We have trained upward of 100 leaders in this more intensive discipleship process and currently have 15 Sponsorship pairs going through the program. The leaders participating currently are from the following countries: Ethiopia, Zambia, USA, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Uganda, and Botswana. When just one leader’s life is changed and impacted, we have seen thousands of lives impacted from there.
Herb Armentrout has been a sponsor for several years and this is what he recently shared with us about his experience in the Sponsorship program.
“Worship means life. We are to honor God in the market place and do everything for His glory.” These were insights Esayas Ginsmo shared with me after reading the first day’s devotion from Pure Praise written by Dwayne Moore. It has been a tremendous blessing to partner with African Worship Pastors through the Sponsor/Leader program facilitated by Next Level Worship. Time and again God has spoken to my heart through conversations with Eric Ngweya, Cecil Muhara, Herbert Mashami, and Esayas Ginamo. These brothers from Zambia, Zimbabwe, Uganda, and Ethiopia respectively have enriched my life more than I can say.
As we have studied books like Pure Praise, Worship Matters by Bob Kauflin, and The Knowledge of the Holy by A.W. Tozer we have grown in our understanding in many areas such as worship theology, team leadership, and the power of prayer. We have shared many “wow” moments during the course of our dialogues on What’s App when God revealed something about Himself to both parties and neither could speak because we were so moved. My brothers have prayed for me, my family, and my ministry and I have prayed for them. I hope I have been an encouragement to my brothers in Christ on the other side of the globe, but let me assure you – I have been inspired and challenged as I have learned of my brothers’ joyful, faithful leadership and spiritual hunger for God, often in the midst of formidable circumstances.
I was privileged to personally meet two of my four brothers from these partnerships when I traveled to Zimbabwe in 2019. It was a tremendous blessing to sing and dance together, read scripture and worship together, and while I may not meet the other two here on earth, I am confident one day, as stated in the hymn “All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name” – every kindred and every tribe on this terrestrial ball will bring forth the royal diadem and crown Him (Jesus) Lord of all. Until that day, I relish the opportunity to experience Proverbs 27:17 and be a part of the regular practice of “iron sharpening iron.”
I love and thank God for my brothers in Africa.
