About The Drama

Imagine the same people living in two different worlds.

In Act I, people still love, laugh, struggle, sacrifice, and show kindness—but Christ has never come. In Act II, the same people face many of the same circumstances, but one event has changed history forever: Christ has come.

Through the journey of Sarah and her young son Tommy, He Has Come explores the difference between human kindness and Gospel hope—and leads naturally toward the wonder at the heart of Christmas: God has come near in Jesus Christ.

Standard Stage Edition

The Standard Stage Edition of He Has Come is designed for churches, schools, and theatre groups presenting the drama in a traditional stage setting. Running approximately 60 minutes, it tells the complete story through two contrasting acts: first imagining a world in which Christ never came, then returning to the same street and the same people in a world transformed by the reality of His coming. With updated dialogue, richer characters, greater cultural sensitivity, and a clear, gracious presentation of the Gospel, this edition is ideal for Christmas services, seasonal productions, outreach events, and community theatre presentations.

Dinner Theatre Edition

The Dinner Theatre Edition presents the same story, characters, and Gospel message in a more immersive setting, allowing the audience to experience the world of the play from within it. Guests dine as scenes unfold in multiple areas of the room, with characters moving naturally through the space—Sarah and Tommy searching for help, Ben pushing his fruit cart through the street, and other encounters taking place among the audience. Designed to be immersive rather than interactive, the production never puts guests on the spot but surrounds them with the story. With strategic meal and service cues, a reflective transition between acts, and dessert held until after the powerful final moments, this version creates a memorable 90-minute to two-hour Christmas experience that combines hospitality, theatre, and Gospel-centered storytelling.

At the heart of He Has Come is a simple Christmas truth: Christianity is not ultimately the story of humanity reaching God. It is the story of God coming near to us.

A Drama with a History of Ministry

He Has Come was originally published in 2007 as If Christ Had Not Come. In the years since, the drama has been presented in churches, prisons, and other ministry settings, helping audiences reconsider the meaning of Christmas through the striking contrast of a world without Christ and a world into which He has come. When the drama was presented as a dinner theatre at the author’s church, several people responded to the Gospel and trusted Christ as Savior. This newly revised edition preserves the original concept while strengthening the characters, dialogue, staging, cultural sensitivity, and Gospel presentation for a new generation.

Behind the Story

The idea for this drama came to author Dwayne Moore while he was still a college student: What if audiences could see the same people living in two worlds—one in which Christ had never come and one in which He had? When he first shared the concept with a university drama director, he was told the two-act idea simply would not work. He couldn’t shake it, so he wrote it anyway. Years of performances later, the story has now been revisited and substantially rewritten as He Has Come.
