Several of you have asked for an update regarding the new church plant we are helping to start. Last Sunday, September 17, was our first day and in fact the kick-off service of this brand new church. It’s called The Church at Ross Bridge. We had 119 people there! PTL!
My family and I are privileged to partner with Pastor Randy Norris and the many wonderful people down in the Birmingham, AL area who have a burden to reach Ross Bridge located in Hoover.
Can you believe we have been blessed to begin our very first day with a full (5-piece) band and 5 singers! Not only do they play and sound great; more importantly, they have incredible hearts to love and worship the Lord. Wow! God is certainly good! (By the way these pics are from our rehearsal. We weren’t quite this casual on Sunday morning – but close!)
Several of you worship leaders have asked if we are going to do “contemporary music.” For the record, we did My Savior My God, the hymn The Solid Rock (played the old fashioned way!) and Forever as our opening medley; then for our second set, How Great Is Our God and How Great Thou Art. Call it blended or whatever you want. We prefer to call it effective, which it most certainly was! People were clapping, raising hands, a few even did some shouting! For sure, almost everyone left sensing God had visited us both through the music and through the preached Word.
This coming week we plan to do mostly new songs, starting slow and low, then moving up, and beyond this week, whatever songs and styles work with our community and the Lord leads us to do!
Thank you for your prayers!
